Canberra Airport

Last night we had dinner with friends at the Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli prior to watching David Williamson's latest play Rhinestone Rex & Miss Monica.  I recommend it to anyone wanting a great night out. It's classic Williamson with loads of laughs, a touch of pathos & the treatment we expect to get from David on some of life's trickier experiences; love, loneliness, renovations and classical vs. country music. The cast of two, Glen Hazeldine & Georgie Parker were superb.  And Sandra Bates' direction always brings out the best in the cast. We then propped up the bar after the play & had a great catch-up with Glen who was in the cast of A Conversation, one of the Conferencing plays, almost ten years ago.  He was in good form.

I'm currently waiting for my flight back to Sydney after an early start this morning and a late night last night, so it'll be a sleepy flight home. The girls ran the Sydney Half Marathon last weekend after a less than perfect preparation.  Gene was coming down with a heavy cold & Ange was under-done on the training.  Nonetheless they managed a great time of two hours & 2 minutes & taking in a nature stop of over 2 minutes they did super well.  It was PB for Gene. Ange stood in for the coach and pushed her to her best time yet.

Had dinner at Ian's place on Sunday night & we chatted about lots of things, including The Wire.  We've lent him the box set & he's now officially hooked. If you've not seen the HBO series, you've not seen TV at its best.

On the training front I'm back into the bike, averaging about 4hours a week at the moment (very low level volume), a couple of 2km swims a week across the beach and some short runs.  The upcoming events are a 10km run finishing in the Olympic Stadium at Homebush & the Sydney to the 'Gong Bike Ride which is about 90kms. Let's see how we go.  My wetsuit (surfing wettie) is broken so I'm about to try it with only a vest (& boardies) this weekend if there's any swell about.

That's it for me It's boarding time.  Not much intellectual grunt in this one. That's what airports do to you. J
